Local Coffee Roasters With An Indigenous Story.

Earthlings Coffee Roasters is a local coffee store with an international objective: to foster a better market for the indigenously grown Liberica coffee strain.

Alongside their efforts to supply equipment, dry houses and machinery, and to conduct coffee planting training deep in the rainforest of Borneo, Earthlings Coffee Roasters has reached out to us to create a series of packaging that reflects the lives of the local coffee farmers and to also highlight their culture.

We’ve spent weeks talking and researching with the local tribes – Orang Ulu and Bidayuh – and we’ve gathered insights to design 5 new packagings with strong, accurate local motifs that reflect each village: Long Banga, Long Balong, Munggu Kupi, and Tringgus Bong.

Bag of Munggu Kupi Liberica Sarawak coffee with illustrated buildings, coffee beans, a hand, and a steaming cup on the label.
Brown paper bags of coffee labeled 'Long Bailing Liberia' with a graphic of a coffee bean and a coffee cup.
Coffee bag labeled Liberica Sarawak Coffee with a colorful illustration of a bird, coffee beans, a hand, and decorative patterns.
A coffee package labeled 'Long Bangsa Liberia' with illustrations of coffee beans, flowers, a hand pinching a bean, a patterned rock, and a wooden coffee shed.
