We travelled to Sebujit, West Kalimantan during Gawia Nyobeng to document a living tradition. What stayed with us wasn't only the ceremony itself, but the generosity of the people who welcomed us into their homes.

Rather than explain every ritual, we chose to observe with patience. The documentary became less about recording an event, and more about capturing what it felt like to be welcomed into a community.

Some stories continue long after the camera stops rolling. We wrote about our time in Sebujit - the conversations, the people, and the moments that shaped this documentary.
